More birds and Hong Kong Park

As I have said before, the Youde Aviary at Hong Kong Park. Went for a photo walk again a few weeks back. As always, I brought along the Olympus OM-D EM-5 and the Panasonic 100-300. Have I said before, that this is the ultimate combo (for my non Nat Geo needs) for bird photography. Up to 600mm reach, which can be hand-carried all day! Here are a couple of photos.

Bird 2 Bird 1

A walk through Hong Kong Park, November 2014

It is wonderful that I live so close to Hong Kong Park – basically a 5 minute walk down. Walking up takes slightly longer because it is uphill 🙂  It was great for the kids growing up and it continues to be a very nice place to go for photography.  The aviary is a great place for taking bird photos and walking around outside one often comes across wonderful butterflies.

I usually take the Olympus OM-D E-M5 with the Panasonic Lumix 100-300 lens. This is just a wonderful combination. The OM-D E-M5 has to go down as one of the all time classics.  For that size of body, it is a sensational combination of quality and features. The Pany 100-300 is amazing for the length it provides for the size of lens. Autofocus can hunt on occasion but its not really an issue. I usually manage to take 90%+ of the photos I want to, which trust me is amazing for a 600mm equivalent focal length. I know for a fact that I would never be able to carry DSLR gear of that size.

Here are a few photos that I took from a walk on 23 November 2014.
